ROMFORD PROJECT

When we came across this project in Romford, the client had inherited this pool with a recent property purchase and was on the verge of filling this pool in due to safety concerns of the households pets and young family members. We were extremely pleased to be able to commence work on this pool and bring it back to life!

The project was orientated around child and pet safety. We worked within the clients budget to ensure these areas were priority while still providing the fundamental principles any pool should have. It was clear there had been a structural failure and the pool was decommissioned and abandoned by the previous home owner.

In this case it was more cost effective to brace the failed wall and construct a new wall internally, without compromising the pool size drastically. We also constructed a smaller wall to block up the existing roman style entry step system. This would benefit the installation of the under coping automatic safety cover allowing the cover to stop flush within the pool boundary and not have the need to extend into the potential roman end stair area, causing further complications.

The client was not keen on the constant slope design and requested a floor modification to produce a constant depth pool. Taking the pool from a deep end depth of 2 meters we reduced the floor to a level 1.2 meters. This would allow users of the pool to enjoy the pool but with a more manageable approach, knowing where the floor is at all times! With the installation of two large corner steps we allowed easier and safer access to the pool without impacting the floor space.

We installed an aluminium liner lock profile and pool cover integrated track system which sits under the coping stone to provide a more modern and sleek automatic safety cover operation while ensuring nothing can enter the pool when the cover is in the closed position. When the cover is in the open position the cover is retracted into the inground pit which stores the cover without jeopardising the existing pool surround. This was important for the client as the existing space was minimal and the exposure of a cover above ground impacted the safety factor.

Once the walls were rendered, we installed underlay on the walls, floor and steps along with a blue marble pattern bag liner. The stair treads house a white anti-slip for safer entry and exit of the pool. All internal pool fittings and lighting fixtures were relocated and upgraded to suit the new pool dimensions and layout. This ensured we could achieve the expected flow rate and necessary water turn over rates.
